Restaking và EigenLayer: Lợi Nhuận Kép Hay Rủi Ro Hệ Thống?
Key Takeaways
Sự sụt giảm này không chỉ do rút vốn mà còn do giá ETH biến động.

The promise of decentralized finance (DeFi) once championed a world free from intermediaries, where trust resided in immutable code rather than fallible institutions. Yet, the current trajectory suggests a fascinating, if somewhat contradictory, evolution: the burgeoning integration of Real World Assets (RWAs). From tokenized U.S. Treasuries to fractionalized real estate, RWAs are increasingly positioned as the bridge between the trillions in traditional finance (TradFi) and the nascent DeFi ecosystem. This convergence, while lauded by many as the inevitable path to mainstream adoption and liquidity, demands a critical, skeptical eye. Is this truly the institutional gateway DeFi needs, or are we, in our pursuit of scale, inadvertently ushering in a centralized Trojan horse?
Key Takeaways: Navigating the RWA Landscape
- The RWA market, excluding stablecoins, has surged to approximately $34 billion by July 2026, with tokenized U.S. Treasuries dominating the sector, signaling significant institutional interest and capital inflow.
- Leading protocols like Ondo Finance and Centrifuge demonstrate substantial Total Value Locked (TVL) in RWA products, offering tangible yields (3.5% to 5.25% APY for tokenized Treasuries) and attracting both institutional and retail participants.
- Despite growth, RWAs introduce inherent centralization risks due to reliance on off-chain custodians, legal entities, and centralized oracles, potentially compromising DeFi’s core tenets of trustlessness and permissionlessness.
- Regulatory bodies, including the U.S. SEC and CFTC, have clarified that tokenized securities are subject to existing federal securities laws, creating a dual-edged sword of improved clarity for institutions but increased compliance burdens for protocols.
- The long-term success of RWAs in DeFi hinges on navigating a complex interplay of regulatory frameworks, technological innovation in decentralized oracle solutions, and a delicate balance between institutional demands for compliance and DeFi’s ethos of decentralization.
Market Context: The Growing Allure of On-Chain Tangibles
The narrative surrounding Real World Assets has shifted dramatically from niche experimentation to a central pillar of DeFi’s growth strategy. As of July 2026, the market for tokenized assets, excluding stablecoins, has grown to approximately $34 billion, a staggering quadrupling from $6.4 billion in March 2025. This exponential growth underscores a fundamental yearning within the crypto ecosystem for stable, yield-generating assets that are less correlated with the volatile native crypto markets. Tokenized U.S. Treasuries, in particular, have emerged as the dominant force, surpassing $10 billion in on-chain value by early 2026 and reaching approximately $16 billion by May 2026, representing over 55% of the entire RWA market.
This surge is driven by a confluence of factors. Elevated interest rates in traditional financial markets have made government bonds attractive, and tokenization offers a novel way for crypto-native capital to access these yields without fully exiting the digital asset ecosystem. Furthermore, institutional interest, once speculative, has matured into active participation. Firms like BlackRock, through its BUIDL fund, and Franklin Templeton with its BENJI fund, are not just observing but actively deploying capital and building infrastructure for tokenized securities. The overall sentiment is undeniably bullish, with some analysts projecting the total value locked (TVL) in tokenized RWAs could exceed $500 billion by the end of 2026, up from roughly $35 billion in 2025. More ambitiously, Citi analysts projected in 2024 that the RWA tokenization market could reach $5 trillion by 2026 or $8.2 trillion by 2030 in a bull case, though these larger figures likely refer to a broader definition of tokenized assets and a longer timeframe.
This institutional embrace is not without its complexities. While the on-chain value of RWAs exceeds $51 billion as of July 2026, only about $3.8 billion, or roughly 7.7%, is actively utilized within DeFi’s TVL. This “scale-activity inversion,” as noted by HTX Research in July 2026, highlights a critical distinction: the mere tokenization of an asset does not automatically imbue it with DeFi’s inherent composability or liquidity.
On-Chain and Fundamental Analysis: Unpacking the RWA Mechanics
How RWAs are Tokenized and Integrated
The process of bringing Real World Assets onto the blockchain is a multi-layered undertaking, far more intricate than simply minting an ERC-20 token. It typically involves three critical components: legal structuring, technical execution, and ongoing operational management.
- Origination and Legal Wrappers: An off-chain asset (e.g., U.S. Treasury bills, real estate, private credit invoices) is first acquired and held by a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) or a regulated entity. This entity then issues a legal claim or beneficial interest, which is represented by a blockchain token. The legal wrapper defines the rights of the token holder and the enforceability of their claim to the underlying asset. This is where most of the “real-world” complexity resides, as these structures must comply with traditional securities, property, and contract laws across various jurisdictions.
- Tokenization and Smart Contracts: Once legally structured, the digital representation (the token) is minted on a blockchain. This token can be an ERC-20, ERC-721, or a custom standard like ERC-3643 (often used for permissioned securities). Smart contracts govern the lifecycle of these tokens, handling issuance, transfers, redemption, and the distribution of any associated yields.
- Oracles and Verification: To maintain the peg between the on-chain token and its off-chain value, reliable data feeds are crucial. Oracles bridge the gap, providing real-time pricing, collateral status, and other pertinent information from traditional financial markets to the blockchain. This dependency, however, introduces significant vulnerabilities, as the integrity of the RWA token ultimately rests on the accuracy and immutability of these off-chain data feeds.
- Collateralization and Yield Mechanisms: Many RWA projects integrate these tokens into DeFi lending protocols or create yield-bearing products. For instance, tokenized U.S. Treasuries generate yield by passing on the interest from the underlying government bonds to token holders. This is often achieved through mechanisms like daily rebasing or an appreciating token price.
Key Metrics and Growth Drivers
The growth of RWAs is quantifiable through several on-chain and fundamental metrics:
- Total Value Locked (TVL) Growth: RWA protocols have seen impressive TVL surges. Ondo Finance, a leader in tokenized U.S. Treasuries and equities, surpassed $4 billion in TVL by June 2026, more than doubling its TVL since the beginning of the year. Its OUSG product, focused on short-term U.S. Treasury bills, held over $820 million in T-bills as of January 2026. Centrifuge, specializing in private credit, recorded approximately $1.79 billion in TVL as of April 2026, with over $1.3 billion specifically in private credit. MakerDAO, a pioneer in DeFi, has integrated RWAs into its collateral strategy, holding a $2.34 billion RWA portfolio by September 2025, including $1.14 billion in U.S. Treasury bonds.
- Yields Offered: Tokenized U.S. Treasuries, in particular, offer competitive yields, ranging from 3.5% to 5.25% APY in 2026, net of management fees (typically 0.15% to 0.5%). This provides a compelling alternative to zero-yield stablecoins and attracts capital seeking stable, government-backed returns. Franklin Templeton’s BENJI fund, for example, posted a 3.51% 7-day yield in March 2026.
- Institutional Participation: The involvement of traditional finance giants is a significant growth driver. BlackRock’s BUIDL fund, launched in March 2024, quickly became a dominant player, holding over $2.9 billion in assets under management (AUM) by May 2026, capturing 40% of the tokenized Treasury market. J.P. Morgan’s Kinexys blockchain infrastructure and Mastercard have also demonstrated cross-border settlement scenarios with tokenized government securities, signaling serious enterprise-level adoption.
The Tokenomics of RWA Protocols
The native tokens of RWA protocols often play a crucial role, though their value accrual mechanisms vary and can be complex.
- Governance: Tokens like Centrifuge’s CFG or MakerDAO’s MKR grant holders governance rights, allowing them to vote on critical protocol parameters, risk adjustments, and asset onboarding. This decentralized governance is theoretically meant to ensure community control over the protocol’s evolution.
- Staking and Incentives: Some protocols offer staking mechanisms, where users can stake native tokens to secure the network or participate in risk-sharing pools, earning a portion of protocol fees or emissions. However, the connection between protocol revenue from RWAs and native token value can be tenuous. For instance, while MakerDAO’s RWA portfolio generated nearly 80% of its fee revenue over a year, totaling $13.5 million (as of September 2025), the direct value accrual to MKR holders is through mechanisms like the MKR burn, which aligns profitability with token scarcity.
- Inflationary Pressures vs. Value Accrual: A common challenge for many DeFi tokens, including those in the RWA space, is balancing inflationary token emissions (often used for liquidity mining or incentives) with sustainable value accrual. As seen with Ondo Finance, despite significant protocol growth and TVL, its market capitalization has at times plummeted due to factors like token unlocks and a disconnect between protocol revenue and token value, highlighting the importance of robust tokenomics.
The Other Side: Real Risks and Unspoken Centralization
The integration of real-world assets into DeFi challenges the fundamental principles of decentralization, as any connection with off-chain elements is neither decentralized nor permissionless and inherently requires trust.
While the allure of RWAs for unlocking institutional capital is undeniable, it is imperative to dissect the profound compromises and inherent risks that often go unacknowledged in the prevailing bullish narratives. The very essence of DeFi—permissionless, trustless, and censorship-resistant—is fundamentally challenged by the necessity of bridging to the real world.
Regulatory Quagmire and Legal Ambiguity
Despite recent progress, the regulatory landscape for RWAs remains a complex, often fragmented, patchwork. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) issued a joint statement in January 2026, confirming that tokenized securities are subject to existing federal securities laws, meaning tokenization does not alter the legal nature of the underlying asset. While this provides some clarity, it simultaneously imposes stringent compliance requirements (e.g., KYC/AML, accredited investor status, offering circulars) that fundamentally contradict the permissionless nature of public blockchains. Different jurisdictions, from the EU’s MiCA framework to emerging regulations in Singapore and Abu Dhabi, are developing their own approaches, creating a complex web of legal interpretations.
This regulatory friction introduces significant risks: the potential for legal invalidation of on-chain claims if the off-chain legal wrapper is deemed insufficient, or the risk of asset seizure by authorities if a protocol or its participants fall afoul of regulations. The enforceability of “ownership” of a tokenized asset often depends on the legal jurisdiction of the SPV, not the blockchain itself, rendering the “immutable” nature of the blockchain secondary to traditional legal precedent.
Oracle Dependency and Data Integrity
A critical, yet often overlooked, vulnerability in the RWA ecosystem is the reliance on oracles. These data feeds are the sole conduit for bringing accurate, real-time information about off-chain assets (prices, status, defaults) onto the blockchain. However, if an oracle is centralized, or relies on a small number of data providers, it becomes a single point of failure susceptible to manipulation, technical glitches, or censorship. A compromised or inaccurate oracle feed can lead to catastrophic consequences, such as incorrect liquidations in lending protocols or mispricing of assets, resulting in significant financial losses.
While decentralized oracle networks (DONs) like Chainlink aim to mitigate this by aggregating data from multiple sources and employing cryptoeconomic security, even DONs are ultimately dependent on the integrity of their constituent data providers. The “oracle problem” is amplified for RWAs, as the data sources are typically traditional financial markets, which are themselves subject to their own set of risks and potential manipulations.
Centralization of Custody and Underwriting
The very nature of RWAs necessitates off-chain custodians and legal entities to hold the physical or traditional financial assets. This reintroduces the centralized intermediaries that DeFi originally sought to eliminate. These custodians and underwriters hold significant power: they control the actual assets, manage the legal wrappers, and often conduct the Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) checks required for institutional participation.
This leads to a form of “permissioned DeFi” where access to certain RWA tokens is restricted to whitelisted, KYC-compliant addresses. While this satisfies regulatory requirements for institutions, it directly conflicts with the permissionless and inclusive ideals of native DeFi. Furthermore, it creates counterparty risk: if the off-chain custodian defaults, becomes insolvent, or acts maliciously, the on-chain tokens may become worthless or difficult to redeem, despite the blockchain’s transparency. The concentration of power in these traditional finance intermediaries means that many RWA projects are, at their core, merely digitized versions of TradFi products, rather than truly decentralized innovations.
Liquidity Challenges and Market Depth
While tokenization promises to unlock liquidity for historically illiquid assets like real estate or private credit, the reality is often more complex. Many underlying RWAs are inherently illiquid in traditional markets, and simply putting them on a blockchain does not magically create deep secondary markets. Regulatory restrictions (e.g., transfer restrictions, investor eligibility) can further segment liquidity, limiting the pool of potential buyers.
In stressed market conditions, the illiquid nature of these underlying assets could lead to significant discounts for RWA tokens, or even make them impossible to sell or redeem at their stated Net Asset Value (NAV). This poses a particular risk for DeFi protocols that accept RWA tokens as collateral, as a sudden liquidity crunch could lead to under-collateralized loans and systemic instability.
Systemic Risk: Importing TradFi Vulnerabilities
The integration of RWAs, particularly debt instruments, risks importing traditional financial system vulnerabilities into DeFi. If a significant portion of a DeFi protocol’s collateral is tied to RWA debt, and those off-chain debts begin to default, it could trigger cascading liquidations and instability within the DeFi ecosystem. The illusion of diversification by adding “real-world” assets might mask an underlying correlation during periods of macroeconomic stress. An example of a high-profile failure that exposed oracle and curator risks was the KelpDAO exploit in April 2026, which left Aave facing an estimated $230 million in bad debt, with Umbrella absorbing roughly $50 million. This demonstrates how off-chain issues can quickly translate into on-chain financial turmoil.
Case Study: Tokenized U.S. Treasuries – A Double-Edged Sword
The Promise: Stable Yields and Institutional Access
Tokenized U.S. Treasuries represent the most successful and rapidly growing segment of the RWA market. By early 2026, tokenized Treasuries had crossed roughly $10 billion in on-chain value, growing to approximately $16 billion by May 2026. This surge is driven by their appeal as a “pristine” collateral asset and a source of stable, government-backed yield in an otherwise volatile crypto landscape. Products like BlackRock’s BUIDL, Ondo Finance’s OUSG and USDY, and Franklin Templeton’s BENJI are leading this charge.
BlackRock’s BUIDL fund, launched in March 2024, quickly amassed over $2.9 billion in AUM by May 2026, securing a dominant 40% market share of tokenized Treasuries. It offers daily yield accrual with T+0 settlement, effectively combining TradFi security with DeFi efficiency. Ondo Finance’s OUSG, holding over $820 million in T-bills as of January 2026, and its USDY product, are widely adopted for providing on-chain access to short-term U.S. government debt, with yields typically ranging from 3.5% to 5.25% APY in 2026. These products offer a compelling value proposition: stable, low-risk yields accessible through blockchain rails, without requiring a traditional brokerage account for retail users (though often still requiring KYC/AML).
The Peril: Centralized Gatekeepers and Regulatory Scrutiny
However, the apparent simplicity of tokenized Treasuries masks significant centralized dependencies. These products rely heavily on traditional custodians (e.g., BNY Mellon for BUIDL, Clear Street for Ondo) and regulated financial institutions to hold the actual Treasury bills. This means that while the tokens reside on a blockchain, the ultimate control and legal ownership of the underlying assets remain with traditional, centralized entities. This reintroduces counterparty risk, as the token holders are ultimately exposed to the solvency and operational integrity of these custodians.
Furthermore, tokenized Treasuries are almost universally permissioned, requiring stringent KYC/AML checks. Access is often restricted to accredited investors or specific jurisdictions, limiting their “decentralized” reach. For example, BUIDL requires significant minimum investments and targets institutional clients. While Ondo’s USDY is more accessible to non-U.S. retail users, and Franklin Templeton’s BENJI targets U.S. retail investors, they still operate within regulated frameworks.
The regulatory landscape also poses a continuous threat. While the SEC’s clarification in January 2026 provided some guidance, the potential for government intervention, sanctions, or blacklisting of specific tokens or protocols remains a tangible risk. A comparison to traditional money market funds reveals that while tokenized versions offer 24/7 access and faster settlement, they largely replicate the traditional structure with a digital wrapper, rather than fundamentally innovating on trust models. The “decentralization” often ends where the legal entity holding the underlying asset begins.
Comparative Analysis: RWA Protocols and Their Divergent Approaches
The RWA sector is not monolithic; various protocols adopt distinct strategies to tokenize different asset classes, each with its own trade-offs between decentralization, compliance, and target market.
Centrifuge (CFG): Bridging Private Credit
Centrifuge is a prominent player focused on bringing private credit onto the blockchain. It enables businesses to tokenize real-world assets like invoices, real estate, and supply chain financing into Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) or other tokenized representations. These tokens can then be pooled into Tinlake, its decentralized application, allowing DeFi investors to provide liquidity and earn yield backed by these off-chain assets.
As of April 2026, Centrifuge had approximately $1.79 billion in TVL, with over $1.3 billion specifically in private credit, making it a dominant platform in this niche. Its pools offer senior and junior tranches, allowing investors to choose their risk-reward profile. For example, Centrifuge has integrated with major institutional players, positioning its infrastructure to support Morgan Stanley’s SEC-regulated alternative trading system for tokenized equities, planned for H2 2026. This highlights its role in facilitating institutional entry into tokenized private credit and other asset classes.
However, Centrifuge faces challenges inherent to private credit. Managing defaults, assessing the creditworthiness of off-chain originators, and conducting investor due diligence require significant off-chain processes and expertise. While the on-chain transparency of the pools is an improvement, the ultimate risk assessment and legal recourse largely depend on traditional legal frameworks and real-world relationships. This introduces significant counterparty risk and operational complexity that is difficult to decentralize fully.
MakerDAO (MKR): Institutionalizing Decentralization?
MakerDAO, the creator of the decentralized stablecoin DAI, has strategically embraced RWAs to diversify its collateral base and generate stable revenue. Historically reliant on crypto-native collateral like ETH, MakerDAO recognized the need for more stable and scalable assets to support DAI’s peg and growth, especially during bear markets.
By September 2025, MakerDAO’s RWA collateral accounted for $948 million, representing 14% of its reserves, with RWA exposure growing to 23.5% of total collateral. More recently, by September 17, 2025, MakerDAO held a $2.34 billion RWA portfolio, including $1.14 billion in U.S. Treasury bonds and 500 million USDC earning yield through Coinbase Prime. This RWA portfolio generated nearly 80% of MakerDAO’s fee revenue over the preceding year, totaling $13.5 million, providing a stable income stream to fund initiatives like the DAI Savings Rate.
This aggressive pivot into RWAs has sparked considerable debate within the MakerDAO community. Critics argue that relying on centralized custodians and regulated assets compromises the protocol’s founding principles of decentralization and censorship resistance. The “Endgame” plan, while aiming to increase scalability and stability, implicitly acknowledges the need for greater integration with TradFi structures, raising questions about the long-term vision for a truly decentralized stablecoin.
Ondo Finance (ONDO): Targeting Institutional-Grade Products
Ondo Finance has positioned itself as a key bridge for institutional-grade financial products into DeFi, primarily focusing on tokenized U.S. Treasuries, money market funds, equities, and ETFs. Its flagship products, OUSG (tokenized short-term U.S. Treasury bills) and USDY (a yield-bearing token backed by short-term U.S. Treasuries), have seen rapid adoption.
Ondo’s TVL surpassed $4 billion by June 2026, driven by strong demand for on-chain access to traditional yields. Its Global Markets platform, offering tokenized stocks and ETFs, crossed $1.5 billion in TVL by May 2026. Ondo has also secured critical SEC licenses through its acquisition of Oasis Pro in late 2025 and obtained EU regulatory approval, enabling it to offer tokenized stocks and ETFs across 30 European markets. This highlights Ondo’s commitment to compliance and institutional partnerships, including integrations with J.P. Morgan and Mastercard.
However, Ondo’s institutional focus often means accessibility limitations for retail users, with many products requiring KYC/AML and potentially higher minimum investments. Furthermore, while the protocol’s growth has been impressive, its native token, ONDO, has experienced significant volatility. An analysis from April 2026 noted that despite the protocol’s TVL surpassing $3 billion, its market capitalization had plummeted by 85%, partly due to token unlocks and a disconnect between protocol revenue and token value. This underscores the challenge of aligning a protocol’s fundamental success with its token’s economic performance, especially when core revenue streams are derived from traditional assets rather than native DeFi mechanisms.
Recommendations and Forward Outlook: Separating Hype from Reality
Short-Term Outlook (6-12 Months)
The RWA sector is poised for continued, albeit more scrutinized, growth. We anticipate:
- Increased Regulatory Scrutiny: With greater institutional involvement and clearer regulatory guidance from bodies like the SEC and MiCA, protocols will face heightened pressure to comply. This will likely lead to a further bifurcation between highly permissioned, institution-friendly RWA offerings and more experimental, less regulated ventures.
- Focus on Niche, High-Value Assets: The market will likely see a continued emphasis on tokenizing assets with clear legal structures and strong demand, such as U.S. Treasuries, money market funds, and potentially specific segments of private credit. Less liquid or legally ambiguous assets will struggle to gain traction.
- Consolidation Among RWA Protocols: As the market matures, smaller or less compliant RWA protocols may struggle to compete with established players and institutional offerings. Consolidation, driven by acquisitions or strategic partnerships, is a likely outcome. This is already hinted at by Ondo’s acquisition of Oasis Pro.
Long-Term Vision (2-5 Years)
Looking further out, the future of RWAs in DeFi presents a complex interplay of opportunity and ongoing fundamental challenges:
- Mainstream Adoption, with Caveats: If regulatory clarity continues to improve globally and technological solutions for secure, decentralized oracle feeds advance significantly, RWAs could indeed become a significant conduit for institutional capital into blockchain. However, this adoption will likely come with substantial compromises to DeFi’s original vision of absolute permissionlessness.
- Evolution of Legal Frameworks and Oracle Solutions: We expect to see innovative legal structures that better harmonize traditional legal rights with on-chain representations. Simultaneously, the development of more robust, decentralized oracle networks that can withstand manipulation and provide verifiable data for diverse off-chain assets will be paramount. Without these, the systemic risks remain acute.
- Enduring Tension Between Decentralization and Compliance: The core philosophical tension between DeFi’s ethos and the requirements of traditional finance will persist. Protocols will constantly grapple with how much decentralization they are willing to sacrifice for institutional scale and regulatory acceptance. The emergence of “permissioned DeFi” as a distinct, yet interconnected, segment of the broader crypto ecosystem is likely to become more pronounced.
Actionable Advice for Investors and Builders
- Due Diligence on Underlying Asset Quality and Legal Structures: For investors, understanding what the tokenized asset truly represents legally and how it is held off-chain is more critical than the on-chain mechanics. Scrutinize the legal opinions, custodians, and redemption mechanisms. A token is only as strong as its weakest legal link.
- Scrutinize Oracle Mechanisms and Custodian Risks: Builders and investors must deeply investigate how off-chain data is brought on-chain. Prioritize protocols utilizing robust, multi-sourced, and transparent oracle solutions. Recognize that any reliance on a single, centralized custodian or data provider introduces significant counterparty risk.
- Understand the “Permissioned” vs. “Permissionless” Spectrum: Not all RWAs are created equal. Be aware of the KYC/AML requirements, whitelisting, and transfer restrictions associated with specific RWA tokens. While permissioned RWAs may offer regulatory comfort, they fundamentally alter the accessibility and composability inherent in permissionless DeFi. This is not “DeFi” in the pure sense; it’s TradFi on blockchain rails.
- Look for Innovation in Transparency and Decentralization: Despite the inherent challenges, some protocols are striving to enhance on-chain transparency for off-chain processes and develop more decentralized governance over RWA pools. Support projects that are genuinely pushing the boundaries of decentralization within the RWA framework, rather than simply replicating TradFi structures on a ledger.
Conclusion: A Necessary Evolution, Albeit a Compromised One
The integration of Real World Assets into DeFi is an undeniable force reshaping the crypto landscape in 2026. It represents a pragmatic, if not philosophically challenging, evolution, offering a credible pathway for institutional capital to enter the digital asset space. The sheer volume of capital flowing into tokenized Treasuries and the active participation of finance behemoths like BlackRock underscore a critical turning point: DeFi is no longer solely an experimental sandbox for crypto natives.
However, to view this trend uncritically would be a significant oversight. The current iteration of RWAs in DeFi is largely a centralized construct, dependent on traditional legal entities, custodians, and data oracles. This reliance imports systemic risks from TradFi, introduces counterparty risk, and necessitates a “permissioned” environment that stands in stark contrast to the core tenets of decentralization. The hype often eclipses the intricate legal, regulatory, and technical hurdles that remain.
For DistilHub, our analysis remains skeptical but pragmatic. RWAs are a necessary bridge for DeFi to achieve mainstream scale and relevance, but this bridge comes at a cost—a compromise on pure decentralization. The true innovation in the coming years will not merely be in tokenizing more assets, but in developing more robust, verifiable, and genuinely decentralized mechanisms for managing the inherent off-chain dependencies. Until then, investors and builders must approach RWAs with clear eyes, understanding that they are engaging with a hybrid financial system, where the rules of both the old and new worlds apply.
